Het Y’All,
The spring rains are most welcome. We got a brief report on the long range weather forecast last week (Thanks Matt, with the USFS), and the prediction is for another hot, dry summer. So a wet, cool May-June would be very nice indeed. We’ll see what Mother Nature has in store for Helena. By way of preparation, please keep in mind FireSafe Helena and their presentation last week. Seek their help and technical assistance with mitigating fire danger on your own homestead, be it large or small, be it right in town or out in the country.
Meanwhile, we have another great program planned for this week. With Memorial Day coming tight up we thought it would be a good time to hear from a few of the organizations that are helping veterans here in Helena. We’ll be joined this week by Chantelle Russell with Impact Montana, Steve Garrison with Montana Joining Community Forces, and Zach Routzahn with Volunteers of America Northern Rockies.
These individuals and their organizations are doing a great job of teaching out to our veterans and getting them the services they deserve. Please plan to come to Hometown Helena this week to listen and learn about the good work going on our community and how you might be able to help these worthy efforts.
In addition, we received a great email from Coach Jen Hermanson at Helena High School Speech and Debate. Her message is at the end of this email. Jen and a few of her students will join us this week and share their good news with Hometown Helena.
We’re looking forward to seeing you Thursday morning, either in person or via the miracle of Zoom. As always we greatly appreciate Aja Rail and her colleagues at Pinion. We’ve been using their Zoom platform for almost five years now. It is greatly appreciated by all of us who attend and support Hometown Helena.
Jim Smith
