A Conversation with Former Ambassador Michael McFaul

 Mr. McFaul will share his experience as White House advisor and Ambassador to Russia, and will discuss the national security challenges facing the U.S. and how the new administration's worldview might impact allies in Europe and Asia and bilateral relations with China, Russia and Iran.

Born and raised in Montana, Michael McFaul served for five years in the Obama administration, first as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council at the White House, and then as U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation. He is the author of several books, including the bestseller: Cold War to Hot Peace: An American Ambassador in Putin’s Russia. Currently, he is a professor of Political Science and Director and Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. Mr. McFaul is also a contributing columnist for the Washington Post and an analyst for NBC news.
