Michael Rooney: The first annual Septemberfest Soap Box Derby is THIS Saturday thanks
to a partnership between Downtown Helena, Inc and Point S Tire Auto. Races start at 3pm
near the intersection of Last Chance Gulch and 6th Ave, the beer garden opens at 4pm, and the
live music with Goldy Vox is on at 5:30pm. Hope to see you all there.

Kathy Bushnell: We are celebrating National Public Lands Day and Woodsy Owl’s
birthday at Tenmile Picnic Area on Saturday 9/25 at 10 a.m. We will be doing some minor clean-
up work and then will break for some treats! It’ll be a good family fun event!!
Hugh: What additional fire abatement measures can be taken? Should measures being taken
be given more visibility?

Clare Kearns: How would Mr. Allen address the surge in COVID in the Helena area?

Sean Logan: We are receiving lots of questions about the ADA trail on Mount Helena.
Yesterday, I provided an informational post on my Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/SeanLoganHelenaCityCommission

Kirk Miller: In current political atmosphere we are living in due to the impact of COVID on our
lives, I'm sharing an Open Letter to Montanans -- Consider the value of your public school in
your community that was published in many media sources across Montana last week.
ty.pdf). I hope you will consider this and support your local community school. Kirk Miller,
Executive Director, School Administrators of Montana.

Jeff Buscher: To all candidates: Would you be supportive of facility to shelter and provide
services (Mental health, Substance abuse, etc. ) for the unsheltered in our community.

Chris Hawkins: If we build housing for those now living on the streets, what rules will
there be for the residents.
1. Can they continue to use drugs and alcohol ?
2. What behavior rules will be in place ?
3. Will there be time limits

Eric Feaver: The Helena Affordable Housing Trust Fund is HUGE. The current and next
commission must move it forward to provide incentives for development of far more robust
opportunities to rent or buy.

John Murdy: A question for all candidates. We are in a situation in which the transfer station
has a disproportionate control over all waste management in Helena, to the point that our
wastes are not being appropriately addressed, and our recycling and composting entities are
being put on the far back burner, or even criminalized. What would you do to improve this
situation?

Eric Feaver: In response to Jeff Buscher, YES. In this regard, we should survey (quickly)
cities of various sizes across our state and the Pacific Northwest to see what they have done
that has worked and what has NOT worked.

Clare Kearns: What more can Helena do to provide support for victims of domestic violence?
The incidence of domestic violence has increased with COVID.

Mark J: Question for all candidates: Events in Montana and around the country this year
demonstrate that the climate emergency is here. What should Helena's role be in addressing
both the causes and impacts of the climate emergency?

Kara Nelson: Rocky Mountain Development Council, Inc. (Rocky) is conducting a
Comprehensive Community Needs Assessment.A needs assessment is a process for creating a
profile of the needs and resources of a given community or target population. It is our hope to
gather information from as many of our customers, community members, and partners that we
can. Once complete, we will share what we learn. We have developed a survey (see link below)
and have begun conducting community forums. We conducted a forum in Whitehall last night,
and will be in Augusta at 5 pm on 9/29 for our Augusta forum. We'll be in Townsend on 10/5 at
5 pm, Lincoln on 10/7 at 5pm, and then Helena and East Helena later in October. For the dates
and times of our Helena and East Helena forums, check our website and Facebook page.We
encourage all to take the survey – tell us how we can best serve you and our tri-county
community. Please call 406-457-1680 and a paper copy will be mailed to you.Thank

must excuse myself to get my son to school
