Greetings Everyone,

The 23rd Last Chance Community Pow Wow kicks off the last Friday of this month with the Grand
Entry into the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds multipurpose building.  The activities will be going on all weekend, so come out on that Saturday and Sunday too.  The Pow Wow's theme this year is ‘Honor the Children.’  There will be costumes, drumming, dancing, music, food, craft sales all weekend.  This pow wow is the ‘last chance’ for dancers to compete for prizes and recognition after a summer of going to other pow wows around the state.  Summer in Montana is replete with pow wows:  the Poplar Pow Wow on Fort Peck, Milk River Days on Fort Belknap, the Arlee Pow Wow on the Salish-Kootenai, North American Indian Days on the Blackfeet, Crow Fair, and many others around the state.  So please come out to the Fairgrounds and join the celebration.

If your tastes run more to classical music, the Helena Symphony is kicking off its 68th season this Saturday (9/17).  Violinist Stephen Capeda will be featured performing ‘Bolero’ by Ravel.  That’s a favorite of everyone who enjoys classical music.  Maestro Allan R. Scott has another great Symphony Season lined up for us.

And you can begin a great weekend in Helena with a visit to the Kiwanis Food Truck Challenge in Pioneer Park this Friday (9/16) afternoon at Pioneer Park starting at 3 pm.  There will be food, music, dancing and good fellowship there as well.  Anytime you’re hungry this weekend, come on down to the food Truck Challenge in Pioneer Park, in back of the Library near the Neighborhood Center.

Or perhaps you are contemplating building a new home in the Helena area?  If so, you’ll want to sign up for the Helena Building Industry Association’s Parade of Homes.  This is a great event, a chance to see some beautiful homes and some fine craftmanship.   HBIA has been doing this for many years now and it’s always a great event.

Finally, if you are seeking a more rural setting for your weekend, the York Fest is happening Saturday at good old York.  Best burgers anywhere.  The fun begins at noon with music, vendors, games and burgers.  The highlight will be the Annual Duck Race at 4 pm.  You don’t want to miss that.

That’s a sampling of things happening in Helena this weekend.  There is something for everyone here in the Queen City. Hope to see you at one or more of these events.

Hope to see you in person or on the zoom Thursday morning.  We have an open forum, so to speak, as we move into weekly Hometowns.  We’ll have some special guests too.  Hope to see you in person or on the zoom this Thursday morning at 7 am at the Montana Club.
