Hometown Helena -- Thursday, September 8: Carroll College and Helena College

Hometown Helena -- Thursday, September 8, 7 a.m.  @ The Montana Club & Live via ZOOM hosted by AZ Technology Services:

Message from our host Jim Smith:

Greetings Everyone,

The big red sun looked ominous this morning.  And the smoke filled skies are another sign of the times.  We had a pretty darn good, fire and smoke free summer here in Helena.  The recent fires in the South Hills and on Mount Helena itself were dealt with swiftly and decisively, thanks to the Helena Fire Department and many other responding agencies. Years of planning and preparation for events such as these led to the good outcomes achieved.  My understanding is that the cause of the fire(s) is under investigation.
In other news, the Helena City Commission is back up to full strength with the appointment of Andy Shirtliff.  Congratulations to Mr. Shirtliff. Now it’s on to hiring a permanent City Manager, and to all of the city business still at hand.
With fall come the shorter days.  Schools are back in session.  Please keep your eyes peeled for the children crossing the streets as you go about your business.
We will continue our 'education discussions’ this week with updates from Dean Sandra Bauman, Helena College and Jon Cech, President of Carroll College.  The importance of these two fine institutions to Helena and the greater community can hardly be put into words.  The students educated at Helena College and Carroll College make significant short, medium and long term contributions to our social, economic and civic life.  Really looking forward to hearing from Ms. Bauman and Mr. Cech this week.
Please join us this Thursday morning at the Montana Club, or Zoom into Hometown Helena from the comfort of your own home.  Either way, look forward to seeing you.
