Greetings Everyone,
It would seem that our beautiful Autumn is about over, with up to 8” inches of snow forecast for Helena this evening and into the next few days. The streets will get icy-slick, as they always do after the first freeze & the first snowfall. Please be careful out there!
We had a wonderful evening at the Archie Bray Foundation last Thursday. Thanks to Jason Burnett, Events and Auctions Manager and Stephanie Seguin, Education Manager for being the perfect host and hostess for our visit to the Bray. For sure, the Archie Bray has been a staple of the Helena community for a long, long time. We learned last week that the Bray has continued to stay current and relevant these last few years, with new facilities completed, new programs being offered, and new energy infused into every aspect of the organization. One thing to pass on this morning is this: we learned that 'the Bray' is open for visitors all day every day. With 8” of snow expected, this news might be a little late; but you are always welcome to visit the Archie Bray, to stroll around the grounds, enjoy the atmosphere, view the ‘garden of failures’ (you can ask about that while you’re there), or have a picnic lunch at one of the tables on the property. It’s an open campus. Which is really cool, in my humble.
Meanwhile, we have a great morning planned for this Thursday. Hometown Helena is going to host the Helena Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Business Before Hours’ this week. Callie Aschim is doing a great job as the Executive Director. I am biased, but I think the Helena Chamber is the very best in the state of Montana, with over 800 businesses as members. Most of these would qualify as ’small businesses.’ The average business in Helena is typically a small business, usually a service or retail oriented business, with about five (5) employees. These establishments are the lifeblood of Helena. It will be great to hear from Callie and some of the business people in town this week. We will be breaking new ground this week by combining our weekly coffee group with the Chamber’s Business Before Hours. Callie usually raffles off a gift or two at these Business Before Hours events. Matt Elsaesser is donating a few months of composting service, courtesy of 406 Recycling. Many thanks, Matt. At my house we are very, very pleased with composting service. And whoever wins the raffle will be too, I’ll bet. There is also a rumor that there will be donuts at Hometown Helena this week. I can neither confirm, nor deny the rumor. If it’s true, the hot coffee and warm donuts will take the edge off winter’s first blast of the year.
You’re going to have to venture out and come on down to the Montana Club in order to find out! So, come on down despite the inclement weather that’s expected. Or, zoom in from the warmth and comfort of your own home. You’ll miss the donuts, and the raffle; but you’ll enjoy the discussion.
