Hometown Helena this Thursday, March 7th: Chamber Business Update

March 5, 2024

Greetings Everyone,

The big news in our neighborhood is that the new Maverik Gas Station at the south interchange is set to open this month, with a ‘grand opening’ & maybe a ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce set for March 21st.  It has taken awhile for the buildout at the south interchange to get underway, but it’s happening now. If Maverik comes, can a motel be far behind? And if a motel comes, can a restaurant be far behind it? A coffee shop? A retail establishment? How about the extension of Saddle Drive east from the roundabout at the I-15 interchange to the Mountain View Meadows subdivision? All this is likely to happen in the coming years.

Here’s a little information on the new Maverik from the company’s web site:

According to Helena city records, Maverik is spending over $4.9 million to build the store. Once built, it will be one of Maverik’s largest sites in its network, with most of its other locations spanning between 3,300 and 5,900 square-feet, the spokesperson noted.

Elizabeth Sorenson, permitting project manager for Maverik, is working with the city of Helena on the new site, according to records. “Maverik is always looking to enter and consider expanding in areas where customers have unmet needs for fueling, great food, and adventure,” the spokesperson said.

The forecourt will feature 15 fuel pumps, according to a report from The Helena Independent Record. Additionally, it will feature an RV dump, RV lanes and picnic tables outside the building, the spokesperson said. Inside the store, customers will be able to purchase Maverik’s signature BonFire food items, including burritos, sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and more, which are made fresh in every store. The store will also feature Maverik’s newest bean-to-cup coffee program, featuring various blends along with fresh-made pastries.

The Montana location will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, the spokesperson said. Salt Lake City, Utah-based Maverik operates more than 400 c-stores across Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

This ties in nicely to our guest and topic this week at Hometown Helena. Callie Aschim, CEO of the Helena Area Chamber of Commerce will join us to update the Group on new businesses opening in Helena. There is a lot going on in town these days. Please plan to join us this Thursday at Helena College to hear the latest news. Or, zoom into the meeting from the comfort of your own home. The weather is being rather fickle these days, with a sunny day followed by a day of graupel storms and snow showers. Springtime in the Rockies.

Looking forward to seeing you,

Jim Smith
