Hometown Helena this Thursday, August 15: Montana Women’s Triathlon, Local Swim Teams |
|
August 13, 2024
Hey y’all!
I am a terrible swimmer. My mother taught swim lessons for decades but she could never quite teach me to have any real form or agility. I was more inclined to play mermaids, wherein I would be princess of the mermaids and sit on the reclining chairs making up new rules for the games everyone else was playing. Thankfully, my fiance is giving me swim lessons. We even did four (four!!) laps in the pool last night. Let’s pray he can do what my mother could not.
This week we’re joined by the Lions Swim Team, the Dolphins Swim Team, and a representative from the Montana Women’s Triathlon! These folks really inspire me. Did you know the Women’s Tri covers over 13 miles of ground in their race (both by land and by sea)? Plus they support a couple of my favorite nonprofits, Girls Thrive and YWCA Helena. The Dolphins and Lions provide a supportive environment for kids ages 6 to 18 to compete year-round, fostering skills that translate out of the pool and into the real world.
Hope to see you this Thursday, either at Helena College or over the wire on Zoom.

| We ask each person for a five dollar ($5) donation each week. Cash is nice. There is also a Venmo option. Your donation pays for the coffee, tea, etc. that the Helena College canteen provides these each week. Support the canteen and their generous efforts staffing the store early for us. |
