Hometown Helena this Thursday, September 5: Veteran Health |
|
August 27, 2024
Hey y’all!
We have a stacked program this week, with organizations and businesses in our community that are dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of our veterans. Here’s a brief introduction of our guests: Impact Montana exists to help service members, veterans, first responders and their families define their purpose, connect with health and community solutions, and strive for what they value. They provide unique programming based on Montana-specific challenges and professional work experience to address the issues that service members face. Mending Waters Montana is committed to the holistic recovery of veterans and active military personnel, achieved through experiences in fly fishing, fly tying and enriching events that bond people and nature together. They host a number of events throughout the year. The Adaptive Performance Center’s fitness environment encourages reintegration among veterans and is exclusive to military personnel. They live by the motto “move your body, heal your mind” and use physical fitness to improve PTSD, limit depression, and lessen anxiety.
In recent years the VA has hired a staggering 5,300 mental health providers to deal with this issue while only 30% of veterans utilize any type of VA services. It’s programs like these that fill the access gap for nearly 80,000 veterans that live in Montana.
Hope to see you Thursday! Join us in person at Helena College or via the magic of Zoom.
