Hey Y’all,
The FUSE is lit!
Emily McVey has been updating Hometown Helena from time to time the last couple of years years on the FUSE Project. FUSE stands for 'Frequent Users of Systems Engagement.' This is an effort undertaken by the United Way and other social service agencies in the Helena area to understand how and why some individuals and families utilize available community services and resources frequently and often.
Our speakers this week will include people who have been involved with the FUSE Project since its inception: Emily McVey, United Way of the Lewis and Clark Area; Theresa Ortega, Good Samaritan Ministries; Kellie McBride, Lewis and Clark County Criminal Justice Services.
Here is a partial list of the FUSE Leadership Team organizations: St. Peter's Health - Population Health; United Way of the Lewis and Clark Area; Good Samaritan Ministries; Helena Housing Authority; PureView Health; Lewis and Clark Criminal Justice Services; Carroll College MSW; Many Rivers Whole Health; AWARE; YWCA; The Friendship Center; HUD - Helena Field Office; City of Helena; Lewis and Clark County...and others.
This will be a learning opportunity and a most informative and interesting presentation. There will be time for Q&A and discussion with our guests. Please plan to attend.
Immediately following Hometown Helena this week we’re all invited over to the Helena Food Resource Center for a tour of the new building; and an opportunity to hear from retiring Director Bruce Day and his successor at Helena Food Share, Jordan Evertz. Ms. Evertz will take the reins from Mr. Day in November. She’ll be managing an organization that served over 8,700 individuals in over 4,000 households last year in Helena. Thanks to Tim Joyce for arranging this special tour for Hometown Helena.
There will also be a grand opening and tours for the public the week of October 15th. The new, $12 million facility was funded primarily through donations from people in Helena. It is a remarkable accomplishment.
All in all this will be a great morning. Please join us in person at 7am at Helena College for the FUSE Team’s presentation. Or, attend Hometown remotely via the Zoom--courtesy of Aja Rail and the good folks at Pinion Global, Inc. And, do plan to come along on the tour of the Helena Food Resource Center right after Hometown Thursday morning. We ought to be able to begin the tour by 8:30 am, and it will take about an hour.
Look forward to seeing you,
Jim Smith
