Dear Hometown,
We had a fun and informative Hometown last week with a preview of Untitled Calamity Jane Play at Carroll College. The play continues this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (a matinee with no live music). We learned a lot from our expert panel about the health threats of wildfire smoke, both inside and outside, and about some resources like a realtime app to monitor air quality and plan outdoor time.
We also received an update from Phil Drake of the Helena Independent Record about their response to a devastating cyber attack that has hindered their production. Having a local paper is a blessing for any community, and we appreciate how hard they are working to get their e-edition back to the excellent standard many of us use and appreciate. It was great to see their print edition was back this past Saturday when I made my last visit to Van's Thriftway — soon to become a Town & Country Food — a Montana chain that’s keeping many of the former store’s employees.
Some of the Hometown team met with our gracious host here at Helena College yesterday to see how we can improve the online experience for our Zoomers. We’re looking forward to further improving the quality of our stream by directly running the mics the college provides. More to come.
We have another great program this week and look forward to seeing you in person and online!

| | | | We ask each person for a five dollar ($5) donation each week. Cash is nice. There is also a Venmo option. Your donation pays for the coffee, tea, etc. that the Helena College canteen provides each week. Support the canteen and their generous efforts staffing the store early for us. |
