Hey Y’all,
Spring is in the air! Winter is relaxing its icy grip on the northern plains, although there will probably be a few more storms coming in March or April. And in May or June? The second half of the 69th Montana Legislative session gets underway this week. The annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations begin this weekend with the parade on Saturday. Get your green on, folks! Almost time for tulips and daffodils to emerge in the gardens around town. We’re back on daylight savings time now. Hope everyone made the adjustment to their circadian rhythms. It’s dark again at 7am, but that is changing by the day and soon enough it will be nice warm mornings for us at Hometown Helena.
Our special guest this week at Hometown Helena will Mr. Ajitpal Pannu, the new owner of the Montana Club. The Montana Club is Helena’s venerable, iconic landmark building. How many times have you heard someone say: “If these walls could talk...?” Or as Jimmy Buffet says: “Ah, the stories it could tell."
Along with all the other conversations, Hometown Helena met and discussed the news of the city and the world on the 6th floor of the Montana Club for many years. We heard from Mayors, Governors, Senators, Navy Commanders, College Presidents and other distinguished citizen-leaders over the years we met there. It was always a joy to watch the sun rise over the city through the stained and leaded glass windows on the top floor of the Montana Club. Hometown Helena has found a new home at Helena College, but I think we are still attached in spirit to the Montana Club, and we are looking forward to hearing about Mr. Pannu’s plans for this special place.
All we know for sure is that the big roll-off dumpster has been parked on 6th Avenue for the last few months, and that a major renovation is taking place inside the building. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to learning more about what the future holds for the Montana Club under its new ownership.
So, please plan to attend Hometown this week and join everyone in welcoming Mr. Ajitpal Pannu to Helena. Let’s give him a warm welcome! C’mon down to Helena College this Thursday morning, from 7-8 am. Or, zoom into the meeting from home, courtesy of Aja Rail and her colleagues at Pinion Global, Inc.
