Hometown Helena this Thursday, June 1:

New Leaders in Helena Panel

May 30, 2023

Greetings Everyone,

It’s shaping up to be a great summer in Helena. I have it on good authority that John Dendy, Executive Director of the Helena Business Improvement District is expecting around 150 flower baskets to be delivered the week of June 12-16. They’ll be hung on lampposts all over the BID that week. John has assembled an excellent watering crew to tend the baskets this summer. Watch for the watering truck in the early mornings around town!

Hope to see some Hometown Helena folks at the Montana Club’s Fundraising Gala this Saturday (6/3), starting at 5:30 pm. Hometown has enjoyed the hospitality of the Montana Club for many, many years. The truth is, our $5 weekly contribution barely pays for the laundry service or the coffee we drink. Here’s another chance to support the Montana Club. See you Saturday!

The following weekend (June 9&10) will see over one thousand runners converge on Helena once again for the Montana Governor’s Cup Marathon! Registration is open for all of the various races. Volunteers are still being recruited for the event. If you’d like to help out, there are any number of ways to do so. For nearly 50 years now Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Montana has sponsored the Governor’s Cup. Check out the history, the testimonials, the rest of the many fine sponsors and the schedule for the 2023 Governor’s Cup.

And on July 15th, the Helena Symphony, Carroll College and the Intrepid Credit Union will present the 19th ’Symphony Under the Stars’ on the Carroll Campus. This years’ theme is The Great Ladies of Jazz. Nearly 20,000 people, from here in town and all over the country, attend this great event every year. Tickets go on sale June 1st, get yours here!

That’s just a small sample of the special events that will be happening this summer. There is also ‘Alive at Five’ every Wednesday, Helena Band Concerts in Memorial Park on Thursday evenings, the Last Chance Stampede and Fair, the Helena History Tours we learned about last week. But wait…there’s more!

Hope to see you Thursday morning, either on the Zoom or in person on the 6th floor of the Montana Club.
