Greetings Everyone,
We can say ‘Goodbye’ too the cool, wet summer we enjoyed in June. The weather has turned warm, to put it mildly. What the hot months of July, August, and
September may have in store for us remains to be seen. But we need to be prepared for what may come. Toward that end, Sheriff Leo Dutton and Undersheriff Brent Colbert will join to discuss evacuation planning. It’s a serious and important topic that none of us can well afford to ignore. Last summer, in my neighborhood, there was the Nob Hill fire. A quick response by Helena Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources (DNRC) snuffed it out before too much was burned, and before the fire came down the hill to the homes and houses, which includes, form example, Touchmark Assisted Living. We’ve all got a stake in knowing what to do in case of an evacuation order necessitated by a woodland fire.
The Symphony Under the Stars last Saturday was another wonderful event. Many thanks to everyone involved. And now, it’s on to the Last Chance Stampede and Fair. This week, Leo and Brent are going to discuss the Man Up Crusade night at the Last Chance Stampede & Fair later this month. This is another thing that is above and beyond the call of duty that the Sheriff and his officers have undertaken: to be an example of how real men behave. Real men do not beat the women in their lives. Real men do not engage in the verbal or emotion abuse of their loved ones. The men and women at the L&C Sheriff’s Office are as tough as they come, but they are also caring, gentle, kind individuals.
This will be another very interesting Hometown Helena. I hope you can join us in person Thursday morning on the 6th floor on the Montana Club, for via the Zoom.
