Hometown Helena this Thursday, January 4th: Montana Community Foundation

January 2, 2024

Greetings Everyone,

Happy New Year to you and yours. Your Hometown planning team hopes your holidays were relaxing, enjoyable and full of food, friends and family. Who knows what 2024 has in store for us? There are plenty of predictions, forecasts and speculations as to what the year ahead may bring? If I’ve learned anything in the last 75 years, however, it’s that truth is stranger than fiction. My guess is the events of the coming year will surprise even the most clairvoyant and respected pundits. We shall see.

Here at Hometown Helena we greet the year with confidence and optimism. As I’ve noted from time to time, at Hometown Helena we try to keep our eye on the 'Little Picture.’ We want to keep our discussions ’Helena-centric.’  Toward that end we have some fine guests and presentations lined up for January and February, starting this Thursday with Mary Rutherford from the Montana Community Foundation.

You’ll recall that in 2022 the Montana Community Foundation (MCF) completed a Transfer of Wealth Study.  Mary has mentioned this study on a few occasions at Hometown Helena. This week she will review and discuss this study with us at length and in detail.  If you get a chance, check out the MCF web page, which features the study.  You can find this at:

https://mtcf.org/giving/giving-with-mcf/transfer-of-wealth.

It will be great to hear from Mary this week. This will be an excellent way to kick off the year at Hometown Helena.

Your Hometown planning team is working on the guests and programs you might like to see in March-April-May. We have some ideas, but want yours too. The 'request line’ is open. Please let us know of topics you are interested in this coming year. We’ll do our best to work your suggestions into the mix. You can call or email any of us on the planning team, or talk to any one of us at an upcoming Hometown Helena. We’ll be getting together this month to plan out the next few months.  As promised, Ann Waickman has joined our planning team, so don’t hesitate to talk to

her about items and topics of interest to you.  All of our names are listed below, at the end of this message.

We will to see you this Thursday morning.  Either in person on the 6th floor of the Montana Club, or via the miracle of Zoom, courtesy of Aja Rail and Pinion Global, Inc.

Let’s get this new year off to a good start this Thursday!
