Hometown Helena this Thursday, January 11th: Childcare in Helena

January 9, 2024

Greetings Everyone,

The new year is well along after only a week! Hope that 2024 will be a great year for everyone and for Helena. We could take some comfort in the fact that there is no legislative session this year. But with interim legislative committees meeting regularly it’s fair to say that the legislative branch is a year round working operation anymore. In my humble, establishing standing interim committees has been a productive move for the people of Montana. We don’t much like the idea of annual sessions. And yet the business of state government requires more and more attention and work as it becomes more complex, which it most certainly has. The interim committee model has worked well since its inception some years back. However, the even numbered years are lean years for the hospitality industry in Helena. So please support our local establishments this winter.

Speaking of winter, looks like we are expecting an icy blast of cold weather this week. Let’s brace ourselves for it.  And, let’s hope it brings plenty of snow, which we surely need.

We have a great program lined up this week (see below).  A big piece of the domestic economic puzzle today is child care. We’re going to take a deep dive into the issue this week.  We’ll have guests from several agencies that provide child care, or that offer assistance to parents seeking quality, affordable child care choices for their children. Emily McVey with the United Way of the Lewis and Clark Area has arranged for our guests and presentations this week. It will be timely and interesting.

Please plan to join us this Thursday morning join the 6th floor of the Montana Club, or plan to zoom into the meeting, courtesy of Aja Rail and Pinion Global.
