Hometown Helena Thursday, February 15th: Benefis Helena Specialty Center

Click here to watch this week's meeting!

We have a new home!

After a series of site visits and careful deliberation, we have selected Helena College’s Student Center (1115 N Roberts) as our home for the time being. We were so lucky to have a plethora of options to choose from, and such a wonderful community who rallies around our cause.

Hometown Helena this Thursday, February 15th: Benefis Helena Specialty Center

February 13, 2024

Greetings Everyone,

Please join Hometown Helena this week at its new location: Helena College, University of Montana, 1115 North Roberts Avenue. Dean Sandy Bauman consulted with the staff and faculty at Helena College and they are happy to host Hometown Helena.  Many, many thanks!

There is plenty of parking right outside the main entrance. Our meeting will be in the student center on the first floor. Come in the main doors and keep walking thru another set of doors.  You can’t miss it. There will be plenty of coffee!  We’ll ask the usual $5/person donation to the coffee fund, which we think will cover the cost to the Cafeteria at Helena College.

After twenty years or so at the Montana Club our time there came to an abrupt end last week. It was not a total surprise. Ramon Mercado has briefed us several times regarding the challenges faced by the Original Montana Club Cooperative. We have really appreciated his keeping us informed and his transparency and openness. That’s how things happen sometime: gradually and then suddenly. We’ll have a ’Thank You’ card for the Montana Club this week. I know I will miss the Montana Club and miss being downtown. I’ve seen many a sunrise from the 6th floor, and I've learned a great deal from the friends and guests who have joined Hometown Helena at the Montana Club over the years. But, all things must pass.

Your Hometown planning team went into action as soon as we received the word last week that we had to find another location. We considered several possibilities, visited three places, and decided that Helena College would be the best choice.  We’re looking forward to seeing you there this Thursday, and to a starting a new chapter in Hometown Helena’s history.

We have the folks from Benefis Helena Specialty Center joining us this week. There will be a Benefis Helena grand opening, ribbon cutting and other events in early March. We’ll be getting a special presentation this week at Hometown Helena.

So, once again please plan to join Hometown Helena this week—in person at Helena College or via the zoom connection, courtesy of Aja Rail and Pinion Global. Get in on the ground floor of this new chapter in Hometown history.  You’ll be glad you did!!
