This weeks message from our host Mayor Jim Smith:

Greetings Everyone,

Everyone who joins us and makes a presentation at Hometown is special.  It’s always a learning experience to hear from our guests.  They prepare for their time with us, and freely share their experiences and expertise.  I’m always amazed at what I learn between 7 & 8 am.

We have an extra special guest this Thursday morning.

Sarah Sadowski, Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Community Service will be a guest this week.  Sarah will  Zoom in live from the Serve Montana Symposium being held on the campus of Carroll College.  The Symposium begins Wednesday afternoon and wraps up Friday.

Here’s a brief conference overview:

"The 2022 theme “Montana AmeriCorps: Service on Common Ground” is inspired by the line in the AmeriCorps pledge that states “faced with conflict, I will seek common ground.” In our divided world, service brings us together in action, demonstrating our commitment to patience, compassion, and mutual understanding.  Sponsored by the Governor's Office of Community Service and AmeriCorps, the ServeMontana Symposium convenes AmeriCorps State & National, VISTA, and NCCC members and staff from across the state to further opportunities for member development through workshops and in service training.”

Sarah herself recently received the Outstanding Commission Staff Award from America’s Service Commissions, which is comprised of Sarah's sister AmeriCorps organizations across the country.  I’ve included a brief video that discusses Sarah’s great work for Montana AmeriCorps.

Hope to see you all Thursday morning,

Jim Smith
