Hometown Helena this Thursday, May 2nd: Public Safety, Greater Helena Gives, Torch Run
Dear Hometown Helena, We have another informative program this week with Hometown at Helena College with Helena's Fire and Police Chiefs discussing the upcoming public safety levy. As dutifully noticed and covered in the IR, we might even have a Mayor and Commissioner or two present! We'll also learn more about the upcoming Greater Helena Gives (countdown linked here) supporting a vast array of local nonprofit organizations with the Helena Area Community Foundation. We'll close with an update on the Law Enforcement Torch Run and, of course, some community updates and discussion before and sometimes after the program with your involvement. Jim Smith is off-grid floating the Green River or something pleasant like that, but the Hometown Team will have things covered with Kelly Cresswell hosting this week's Hometown and the rest of the team on hand to help make sure questions from the Zoom's and getting your concise questions and comments to mic for everyone to hear. While we can only allow a minute or two, we invite candidates to introduce themselves and take a question or two if time allows. There is always time to meet and greet with folks after the program too. Last week included a great presentation and discussion of the levy for Helena Schools followed by a preview of the commemoration event for the 75th anniversary of the Mann Gulch fire this summer. There will be community events honoring the sacrifice, lessons learned, and observations with families of those lost. The Montana Discovery Foundation's dedicated page will have up-to-date information and ways to support these events this coming August. Last week's program and the other recent archives can be watched online or on cable with Helena Civic Television as linked below. "Spring is in the Air" as they say and a lot is happening around Helena with construction, flowers in our vast parks systems, plays and live shows at several long-established and new venues, and outdoors around town. We'll try to keep track of it all on any given Thursday at Hometown Helena and look forward to seeing you in person at 7 a.m. at Helena College as detailed below. - Matt Elsaesser, Hometown Helena Team
