Hometown Helena this Thursday, July 18th: Department of Administration

July 16th, 2024

Hey y’all!

Today, I’m truly grateful for the firefighters on our forest who have fought to contain part of the Horse Gulch Fire. It sounds like crews are poised to contain even more of the fire by the end of this week. Popular sites including the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness, Coulter Campground, Meriwether Day Use Area, Beaver Creek and Indian Flats are reopening, and the evacuation orders have transitioned to warnings. Stay on top of fire updates here.

This week we’re joined by Misty Ann Giles, director of the Department of Administration. Misty is part of an impressively female-dominated executive team, continuing a long history of Montana women in the highest levels of leadership. The Department of Administration moves in ways that are frequently invisible to regular citizens, but make a big impact behind the scenes. I’m thankful for the DoA every time I get to enjoy our beautifully-kept Capitol grounds, whether it’s an evening walk or assembling for an event.

We’ll see you at Helena College on Thursday morning, either in person or over Zoom.
