| Hometown Helena this Thursday, October 17: Candidates, Ballot Initiatives |
| October 15, 2024
Hey Y’all
Wrapping it Up! This will be the final ‘election special’ before November 5th, and the 2024 election. Actually, voting ’absentee' by mail is underway. Ballots have been received and people are returning them. We’ve heard from a lot of candidates this Fall. It’s been a pleasure to have been joined by so many good, conscientious people these last few months. Thanks to each and every one of them; citizens all who made the decision to seek public office.
Maybe we’ve saved the best until last? From the outset we wanted to keep Hometown Helena-centric. We’ve cast a wide net, and we've heard folks from around the world these last few years. It’s been great. By and large, however, I think we’ve kept it pretty local. It does not get any more ‘Local’ than right here --Lewis and Clark County. We’ll be joined this week by the two candidates for the single open seat on the Commission: Joe Dooling and Andy Hunthausen. Also, we’ve asked Lisa Kallio to say a few words about her candidacy for Clerk of the L&C District Court; and also Erin Farris-Olson who is running for Clerk of the Montana Supreme Court. We do rather consider ‘local’ to be the state of Montana.
And last but not least by any means, Eric Dietrich, from the Montana Free Press will be on hand to review and discuss the Constitutional Initiatives that bare on the ballot: CI 126, CI 127, CI 128.
It promises to be another learning opportunity. You’re welcome at Hometown Helena this Thursday, October 17th, at Helena College from 7 to 8 am. Or join the meeting and the group via Zoom, courtesy again this week of Aja Rail and the good folks at Pinion Global, Inc.
