Message from our host Jim Smith:
October 18, 2022
Greetings Everyone,
Looks like our glorious fall weather is coming to a screeching halt by the end of the week. We may be able to squeeze in one more mellow, autumn Hometown Helena before the wind starts howling, the temperature plummets, and snow falls in the high country. So, come on down to the Montana Club Thursday morning and enjoy the company and conversation in person there this week. We may have more of a zoom audience in the weeks ahead, which is just fine too.
Emily Mcvey and Jeff Kurcher from the United Way of the Lewis and Clark Area have mentioned the FUSE Project a few times recently, and we touched on it generally at Hometown in June. You’ll recall FUSE is the acronym for “Frequent Users of System Engagement.’ This will be a very interesting discussion. It’s a real credit to Helena’s nonprofit, helping agencies that they are willing to collaborate and learn together how to be more effective and understanding of the people who need frequent or ongoing assistance and support in our community (see below).
Also, Mr. Connor Fitzpatrick, from the L&C county elections department is going to spend a few minuets with us at the top of hour to discuss the upcoming election. There is some uncertainty about what the final policies are, given that there have been recent rulings from the courts on some key aspects of the 2022 election.
We’re pretty well lined out through the end of the year with our Hometown topics and presenters, so your planning team is looking ahead to 2023. We’d welcome the ideas and suggestions that any of you may have for presentations and subject matter next year. We try to maintain a diverse, balanced approach to our offerings each week. We’ve covered a lot of ground the last few years. Hopefully, these have been worthwhile topics and good learning experiences for you. Please feel free to suggest things. You’re welcome to email your suggestions to the Hometown website (contact@hometownhelena.news), to call me, or to contact any of the folks on the planning team/steering committee. We’ll do our best.
Looking forward to seeing you Thursday morning at the Montana Club, or on the zoom. And lest we forget...many, many thanks to Anderson ZurMuehlen Technology Services for their continued support of Hometown Helena.
